Revolution on the Sound!

October 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the dramatic days when Washington’s army was saved along the Sound Shore of historic Westchester by the cunning, determination and quick positioning of small units of rebels who resisted the invasion.

From October 1 to 23, 2026 REVOLUTION ON THE SOUND! programs will mark those historic events in the very communities where they unfolded 250 years ago and tell the story of the dangerous war between British and Patriot spies, smugglers and privateers who plied the waters of Long Island Sound for nearly eight years of war.

Program Highlights

• Battle reenactment: Battle of Pell’s Point/Pelham (Pelham Bay Park)

• The tall ship Lynx, hosted by the City of New Rochelle

• Author visits will include Eric Jay Dolan (Rebels at Sea: Privateering in the American Revolution) and Friedericke Baer (Hessians: German Soldiers in the American Revolutionary War)

• Toast 250! Tavern Night with trivia in New Rochelle on the waterfront

• Mamaroneck’s 250th at Harbor Island Park with recognition of the skirmish at Heathcote Hill and the armed whaleboat wars

• Meet George Washington, Col. John Glover and General William Howe

And don’t miss REV FEST 250 at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, October 24-25. This major event will include a large-scale reenactment of the Battle of White Plains.
